We acknowledge our responsibility to the environment and believe that energy ratings are essential in helping you to make an informed decision when purchasing new double glazed windows and upvc doors.
Window heat loss can account for up to 30% of the total heat loss from your home!
"A" Rated
Energy Saving Windows
How is Energy Efficiency tested?
Double glazed windows manufacturers supply the British Fenestration Rating Council with accurate drawings of the window sections along with details of the type of glass sealed units used.
Computerised simulation tests are then carried out that will assess:
1) Solar Heat Gain.
2) Thermal Losses.
3) Air Losses
Based on these results all PVC-u double glazing is then certified from an "A" Rating to "G" Rating ("A" being the best possible energy saving performance window).
Modern glass technology offers a range of glass types that together with warm edged spacer bars and argon gas cavity infill, help achieve lower U-values and provide far more energy efficient upvc double glazed windows and doors.
Therefore replacement windows are now energy rated which will keep your heating bills down and help reduce harmful CO2 emissions!

Why Choose Tricept uPVC Windows?
Tricept products from South Lakes Windows Ltd were tested for their energy efficiency using a variety of glass sealed unit configurations. The tests concluded that Tricept Bevelled and Ovolo systems achieved similar results and were awarded "C", "B" and "A" ratings with an Energy index far higher than many of its competitors, surpassing the standards of all current building regulation requirements.
The Genuine article
All Tricept PVC-u windows and sealed units are manufactured to the highest specifications, this guarantees that the standard for the energy rating you have requested has been met.
The two panes of glass sandwich an inert argon gas that prevents heat transfer. Also all glass seals are modified to stop heat transfer as well as energy efficient features in the frames themselves. The glass itself is also engineered to minimise heat loss.

"A" Rated Energy Saving Certificate
A certificate provided by the British Fenestration Rating Council (BFRC) indicates the level of energy saving on a scale of A to G. Our energy saving PVCu windows are given the ultimate "A" rating!
If you come to sell your home, the energy efficiency of these windows helps with your homes overall energy saving, therefore helping towards the salability of your home.

Step 1 - Why you should consider the importance of Energy Saving Windows
You may think a window is a window, no need to complicate matters and the reasons for having windows in your house are simple...
1) Daylight intake
2) Visual contact with the outside world
3) Rapid ventilation
4) Escape in the event of fire
All of the above are true however since the publication of the Governments Building Regulations Part "L" (2006) it is a legal requirement to ensure the windows fitted in your house help to conserve fuel and power and cut down on CO2 emissions. This is achieved by fitting double glazed Energy Saving Tricept Windows.
With carbon emissions high on the global agenda and the cost of fuel rising, we are looking for ways to make our homes more energy efficient.
Numerous household items are now manufactured and installed to these energy requirements and clearly fitting the correct windows is one of the most essential energy saving choices you will make for your home.
Window heat loss can account for up to 30% of the total heat loss from your house!
Step 2 - Understand how Energy Saving Windows work
Double Glazed Window manufacturers supply the British Fenestration Rating Council with accurate drawings of the window sections along with details of the type of glass sealed units used.
Computerised simulation tests are then carried out that will assess:
1) Solar Heat Gain, 2) Thermal Losses and 3) Air Losses.
Based on these results all windows are then certified from an "A" Rating to "G" Rating ("A" being the best possible energy saving performance double glazed window).
Modern glass technology offers a range of glass types that together with new warm edged spacer bars and argon gas cavity infill, help achieve lower U-values and provide a far more energy efficient double glazing system.
Therefore Tricept UPVC replacement windows are now energy rated which will keep your heating bills down and help reduce harmful CO2 emissions.

Up to 800 times more thermally efficient than conventional metal reinforcements...
Reinforcing has traditionally been fitted into PVC-u double glazed windows for 2 reasons. Firstly to offer a better fixing for various hardware fittings and secondly to ensure the rigidity of the frame in the direction of high winds.
The graphs below clearly show how the new Tricept PVC-u thermal inserts more than out perform BS requirements, but also add a completely new advantage in the manufacture of Energy Efficient windows.

Q. What are PVC-U Thermal Inserts?
A. PVC-U Thermal Inserts are multi-chambered recycled PVC-U profiles fitted within the window profile to improve thermal performance and rigidity.
Q. Have PVC-U Thermal Inserts been performance tested?
A. Yes. Thermal Inserts used by Tricept have undergone rigorous testing - culminating in the full BBA (British Board of Agrement) certification, which means windows using UPVC Thermal Inserts meet the required technical standards for the operation and strength of manually operated double glazed replacement windows, whilst adding superb thermal advantages.
Q. Are PVC-U Thermal Inserts used in all windows?
A. PVC-U Thermal Inserts can be used in all non structured windows. They have been tested for use in side hung casement sashes up to a maximum of 1500mm high and 750mm wide and a maximum of 1200mm high and 1350mm wide in top hung casements. This is a significant increase over the previous maximum possible without the use of traditional reinforcements. Thermal Inserts are not used for structural installations such as load bearing bays and conservatories.
Q. How do PVC-U Thermal Inserts benefit my home?
A. They offer lower U-values and Higher Energy Index Ratings that are far greater than upvc windows fitted with metal reinforcements such as steel and aluminium. This ultimately means that you will be using less heat to warm your home, resulting in lower energy bills and a more energy efficient home.
Q. How do PVC-U Thermal Inserts benefit the environment?
A. There are several benefits of Thermal Inserts:
1) PVC-U Thermal Inserts are made from 100% recycled PVC-U, which means they are more environmentally friendly than traditional alternatives and create a 100% completely recyclable window.
2) Thermal Inserts increase the thermal efficiency of all PVC-U windows.
3) The average home fitted with Energy Efficient Windows can save an average 1.55 tonnes of CO2 emissions and 0.42 tonne of carbon saving per year.
Q. How effective are PVC-U Thermal Inserts?
A. Very. In fact, by using the Tricept profile system with PVC-U Thermal inserts, we are now able to offer you the most thermally efficient double glazed PVC-U window on the market! This not only far exceeds current Building Regulations, but betters proposed legislation for 2013 and beyond - giving our customers maximum thermal performance on both new build and replacement projects.
