With composite doors and windows, the aluminium is on the outside, because it's easy to care for and it can withstand almost any weather. The wood, which would need regular stripping and varnishing/painting if it were on the outside, stays on the inside, where its appearance stays fresh and lustrous.

Composite windows and doors – technical specification
Some composite window and door systems are mainly wood with just a thin strip of aluminium applied on top. This can leave your windows and doors vulnerable to the elements. Not so with Ultraframe Composites – our composite window and door systems are mainly aluminium, providing strength and durability where they're most needed: around the locks and hinges.
Before final assembly, the timber becomes an integral part of the system, with the final assembly connecting both materials independently. We also insert preformed insulated foam around the sections to provide a lower U-value (a better thermal performance) not only to comply with Building Regulations but also to make your home as comfortable and energy efficient as possible.
Composite windows & doors - Options
With Ultraframe composite windows and doors, colour and materials are almost limitless. Internally, choose from a range of finishes on the American white Ash timber or order your composite windows and doors pre-primed ready for you to decorate in a colour of your choice and in keeping with your room furnishings.
Externally, Ultraframe powder-coat the aluminium frames in a wide range of colours. This allows you to create a distinctive 'wow' to the front of your home or alternatively you can choose matching and themed colours. the choice is yours.
We can even vary the type of glass we use in your windows and doors. This can include the most thermally efficient glass and even self-cleaning Pilkington Active glass. Locks, handles, hinges, mechanism and fixings are of the highest quality. If you're in a vulnerable situation, we can even fit extra security options.
The timber on the inside of your composite windows is American white Ash hardwood. Choose from the standard finish, which is a natural ash that's simply sealed. Alternatively, a light-oak stain can be used, which mimics oak, the most popular timber for furniture.
If you prefer, Ultraframe can stain the wood in antique oak or just prime it, leaving you with a blank canvas that you can stain or paint yourself!
