All Tricept PVC-u windows and sealed units are manufactured to the highest specifications, this guarantees that the standard for the energy rating you have requested has been met.

The two panes of glass sandwich an inert argon gas that prevents heat transfer. Also all glass seals are modified to stop heat transfer as well as energy efficient features in the frames themselves. The glass itself is also engineered to minimise heat loss.

How is Energy Efficiency tested?

Double glazed windows manufacturers supply the British Fenestration Rating Council with accurate drawings of the window sections along with details of the type of glass sealed units used.

Computerised simulation tests are then carried out that will assess:

1) Solar Heat Gain.

2) Thermal Losses.

3) Air Losses

Based on these results all PVC-u double glazing is then certified from an “A” Rating to “G” Rating (“A” being the best possible energy saving performance window).

Reinforcing has traditionally been fitted into PVC-u double glazed windows for 2 reasons. Firstly to offer a better fixing for various hardware fittings and secondly to ensure the rigidity of the frame in the direction of high winds.

The graphs below clearly show how the new Tricept PVC-u thermal inserts more than out perform BS requirements, but also add a completely new advantage in the manufacture of Energy Efficient windows.

Q. What are PVC-U Thermal Inserts?

A. PVC-U Thermal Inserts are multi-chambered recycled PVC-U profiles fitted within the window profile to improve thermal performance and rigidity.

Q. Have PVC-U Thermal Inserts been performance tested?

A. Yes. Thermal Inserts used by Tricept have undergone rigorous testing – culminating in the full BBA (British Board of Agrement) certification, which means windows using UPVC Thermal Inserts meet the required technical standards for the operation and strength of manually operated double glazed replacement windows, whilst adding superb thermal advantages.

Q. Are PVC-U Thermal Inserts used in all windows?

A. PVC-U Thermal Inserts can be used in all non structured windows. They have been tested for use in side hung casement sashes up to a maximum of 1500mm high and 750mm wide and a maximum of 1200mm high and 1350mm wide in top hung casements. This is a significant increase over the previous maximum possible without the use of traditional reinforcements. Thermal Inserts are not used for structural installations such as load bearing bays and conservatories.

Q. How do PVC-U Thermal Inserts benefit my home?

A. They offer lower U-values and Higher Energy Index Ratings that are far greater than upvc windows fitted with metal reinforcements such as steel and aluminium. This ultimately means that you will be using less heat to warm your home, resulting in lower energy bills and a more energy efficient home.
