Softwood (Redwood) - Hardwood - Oak
All Bereco's products can be supplied in either Softwood (Redwood), Hardwood or Oak.
While the stain colour is the same, the timber type with its own natural pigment will result in a differing final finish colour. Due to the open pore structure, a feature of hardwood is a pittted effect, whereas softwood has a smoother finish.
This has no effect on the performance of the product and only provides for differing aesthetics of the window or door.
Optional Timber Extras
Bereco's range of optional timber extras offer the ability to design windows and doors to suit both your project and personality.
Where infills are required to an arched lintel, arched packers are used as an alternative to a curved head frame. They can be specific widths and radii and are supplied loose or fitted.
Packers to head and jambs
To give additional clearance when fitting into the reveal or to ensure equal sightlines around the window or door.
Ideal for dormer situations or where tile hanging on external facade facilitates the need for a box frame around the window.
To give the appearance of curved glass within doors and windows.
To retain the traditional external appearance.
Choice of Surface Finish
Having taken care of the Timber type, the next step is to protect the external surface. It make sense to provide a thorough surface protection before the windows are delivered, this saves time on site where conditions may not be ideal for painting or staining windows.
While the cost of ordering factory pre-finished products may be slighty higher, there is no doubt that window finishing is best applied under factory controlled conditions.
Any RAL or British Standard colour is available at no extra cost.
Any of the stain options below are available.
Bereco are one of the few companies to offer dual colour windows and doors in the UK. Different paints or stains can be specified for internal or external sides giving flexibility in meeting building aesthetics as well as inside decor.
High Gloss Finish
The standard level of gloss with all Bereco products is 30-40% A high gloss finish (55%) is available on request.
Bereco are specialists in providing fully factory-finished products. Using a quality paint/stain system combined with an accomplished product design and high quality materials allows us to offer a ten year warranty on the paint/stain of all our factory finished products.
The design of Bereco products, approved by BM TRADA, ensures paint coverage is of a consistent thickness, eliminating sharp corners where paint coverage would ordinarily have nominal film build up and in turn would affect the longevity of the products.
Bereco products are internally glazed ensuring the surface of the bead is left completely untouched so the elements cannot penetrate the timber in this way and cause degeneration of the paint finish.
4 Stage Treatment
To achieve our fully factory finished products, Bereco undertake a four stage treatment process in the application of paint / stain. This improves the overall appearance of our products, ensuring our high specification benchmark is adhered to, that sheen and translucency are maintained and the overall durability of our product is improved.
The four stage process:
- Fungal preservation treatment
- Coloured Sealer
- Coloured Paint / Stain
- A second coat of paint / stain.
Whilst the materials, weatherseals and correct manufacture and installation seperate the best windows from the rest it is mainly glass which dictates how well a window insulates.
